The Weekend! (Garage Sale Weekend!!!)
Friday is here again, woooo to the hooo!
I'm on the verge of a massive garage sale weekend here in Miami, Florida - see this post for more on that. If you're here in Miami I really hope you stop by and say hello, we'll have free refreshments and fudge brownies and a whole lot of awesome stuff for sale (see the full ad)! If you're not here in Miami, well, you'll certainly be missing out on a hell of garage sale and I'm so sorry to rub it in your face, hehe...
Okay so, that's all I can pretty much talk or think about right now! I have so much to do today in preparation, including hauling more stuff to my aunt's house (where the garage sale will be taking place) from both my apartment AND my mom's house, clearing off some shelving units that I'll need to use for displaying sale items, and on and on and on.... AHHH! I can't wait! Hopefully I'll make a nice chunk of change this weekend!! Regardless of whether I make lots of money or not, this weekend is sure to be fun, with my cousin in town we're all going to have a blast hanging out at this garage sale, it'll be like a party, LOL!
You know what they say - one man's trash is another man's treasure! And believe me, 99% of my stuff is far from trash, problem is I just have too much of it! So in my case, one man's hoarding problems are another man's treasure! Hehe... Have a great weekend!

Sunny and Gorgeous Saturday
Good Saturday to you :)
I hope wherever you are the weather is as beautiful as it is here in Miami, Florida... Granted, it's insanely hot, but it's just so sunny and bright that sweating out on my balcony tinkering with my plants usually becomes a long affair! I love my plants so much, my succulents and cacti are doing so well, there's something about watching things grow and thrive that gives me a great feeling of accomplishment!
I have a garden update post coming up after this today, my internet connection is super laggy today so it's taking extra long to upload all my pictures, or perhaps it's Blogger with its "Service Unavailable" error. Who knows, either way I hope you'll stay tuned so you can see what's making me so happy these days.

Check out the beautiful pictures I took of the sunset last night as my boyfriend and I were on our way out to a friend's party... where I sang karaoke for the first time, to the tune of 'Losing My Religion' by R.E.M., on some American Idol PS3 game, hahaha... I did surprisingly well too! And no, no pics or video of that moment folks :)

Peace, Love and FRIDAY!
It's Friday and I'm ready for a little PEACE, LOVE and HAPPINESS this weekend! Hehehe... Tomorrow I will be attending a fashion show that my sister Danielle and her camp will be participating in... she'll be dressed in Hawaiian theme! Growing up, my father nick-named her Greta Garbo because of the way she would dramatize at moments... Needless to say whenever my sister is given an opportunity in the spotlight, she's a riot! So we'll see, should be fun!
Other than that I plan to start [seriously] packing all the junk sitting in my art room into my car for an upcoming slew of garage sales that my mother and I hope to orchestrate once the weather here in Miami cools down. Lately I've been struggling with the issue of too much stuff, I realize that I've accumulated too many things I don't need. In the past few years I've come to cherish certain things and not others, I've started to see possessions in a new light. I prefer Goodwill treasures to decor found in Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Ross, I prefer the trinkets from my travels, my art and things that belonged to my father more than most things I see in stores these days. I hope this is a turning point for me and my life, from now on I want my life to be less cluttered and more open and light. Something about making way for new opportunities to come into my life that is motivating me more than ever.
Anyhow, I'm not going to get into a long ramble, but I'm just in a great mood today. I'm excited for the weekend, I'm excited to go home today after work and have that relieved it's-Friday-night feeling and just relax with my love. Note to self: AND, concentrate on finishing some artwork - a post on that later today! :)
What about you all, what are your plans for the weekend? Any projects, excursions or travels planned? Let's hear'em! Whatever it may be I hope you enjoy it to the fullest!

Frantic Friday

Just a quick post to say HAPPY FRIDAY! ...Aaaaand to let you know that I've been having a major brain fart... ehem, errr.... a lapse in mental organization! I can't seem to finalize my post on what it is I've been wrapped up in lately, too many things to consider and incorporate, ARGH!
My mind tends to overwhelm me on a daily basis, you see I must have a constant design and decorating ticker scrolling through my brain nonstop (like the one that rolls across the bottom of your tv while watching the news because apparently there's just too much happening that they need to bombard you with verbal and written news!? yeah, like that ticker)! Most days my mind is racing with design/decorating/craft/blog ideas and my fingers just can't do the typing and clicking fast enough to keep up! Sometimes I wish I could scream "ENOUGH" and the little creative elves in my mind would just take a break and give me some time to organize one thought. Uh oh, did I just reveal a little bit of my craziness? Oh well, that must be what keeps me going! :) But seriously, does this ever happen to you? Does your mind work faster than your physical ability (or willingness) to act on those thoughts and ideas? I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a bit lazy, so I get bombarded with so many plans and to-do's that I have trouble keeping up from time to time.
Speaking of plans, this weekend is going to be a hectic craft and family filled extravaganza, more so than last weekend, because my aunt is hosting a craft party at her house. I'll be focused on helping my mom create a vertical garden for her patio out of an old trellis and painting a few things that need a fresh new look, I'll definitely have posts next week to share those projects with you. Oh, and I never did eat Thai last weekend, one thing led to another and it got too late and since our favorite restaurant is on the other side of town, we ordered take-out instead. Fortunately the weekend is here again, but this time my boyfriend's mother and brother have invited us to join them for Thai (ever since we took them to eat there they have been obsessed like us!), so Thai will definitely be filling my belly TOMORROW NIGHT! Can't wait! Yay! Tom-Kha-Gai soup, Chicken Pad Thai and Massaman Curry Chicken (oh my)! *DROOL* ;P

It's Fridaaaaay yay yay yay!!!

Today I am getting a late start... I've certainly been tinkering around online and on blogger for hours now already, but I'm so picky about blogs that it takes me forever to publish them!
So what's with the images? I just love the bohemian/hippy/gypsy style in each of them and the "devil-may-care" look on some of their faces! :)
Oh yeah and guess what?? I am so happy to announce that Inspire Bohemia turns ONE YEAR OLD this Sunday August 8, 2010! You can read my very first blog post here. I can hardly believe it has been a year, I slowly gained readers and now have 102 followers! Thank you to all of my readers, including friends and family who were my very first supporters! I will have a special birthday post on Sunday, but in the meantime stay tuned for three more posts today...

Adieu work week! Hello busy weekend!
Image from the decor on the shelves we put up last week in the office... more pictures at the end of this post! It's Friday and I am more than ready to say goodbye to this work week and begin my weekend! How about you? I highly doubt your answer is anything other than HELL YEAH! Anyway, if you don't already know, BP has successfully capped the gushing oil wellhead!!! However, other than the fact that it's the first time in nearly three months that it has not gushed obscene amounts of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, we still can't breath a sigh of relief! No, no. There are still many fears about how long the cap can be sustained, there's a horrific possibility that the extreme pressure might not allow it for long. In the meantime, they do not believe there are any underground leaks, but I'm not about to believe anything BP says! They are working on performing tests and continuing progress on drilling the relief wells and all that mumbo jumbo. Jeez. I really hope the worst possible scenario does not come true, which is that pressure will circumvent the cap and an explosion will occur akin to that of a volcano.... leaving us with an underwater volcano of gushing crude at an impossible depth. As it is the effects on our coast and marine wildlife are devastating, perhaps even on the people along the coast who are constantly breathing the overwhelming fumes! We could be cleaning up the oil in the Gulf of Mexico for years to come.
Okay okay, onto brighter topics, after all it's Friday... my weekend plans! This weekend is going to be busy busy!! Tomorrow my boyfriend and I plan to get out of the apartment fairly early and trek up to Sunrise for a visit to IKEA. I really need Ikea to help me with solve storage and space saving solution issues, as I have been feeling a little bit overwhelmed with my plethora of unorganized belongings! Also, I must acquire a new lamp shade for my blue glass hobnail antique lamp, a cheap shelving unit, a bar stool for my bar-height desk and perhaps even one of those basket woven fiber storage ottomans! Phew... I hope I make it out of there without spending more than $100.... yeah right. Oh! And I must stock up on those enormous packs of scented tea lights for me and my mom, those things last forever!

I sanded this beauty over TWO years ago and to this day she sits with a fabric runner on top for some pizazz! Now that I think of it, I could have saved myself a lot of trouble had I known that my mind would change about staining it a dark chocolate color. Why is that? Well, when this piece was given to me it was covered in about two inches of a grimy yellowish cream color, ECK! So, after repeated stripping I finally broke through to the wood and then sanded her down nice and smooth. The problem with that is that now I think I want to paint her instead of stain the wood! Sheesh! What color you ask? Turquoise! Of course! Now, I know you may be wincing to yourself, but I plan on using a very soft powdery turquoise color so as not to be too bright and obnoxious (more on the color soon). Also, I think painting the inside a richer and slightly darker version of turquoise would really make a statement when opened! The gold inlay detail on the doors will stay as is, it will be the rustic reminder of its past and I think it will contrast wonderfully against a light turquoise blue. Last but not least the finishing detail, HARDWARE! This cabinet opens by pushing the doors in, but I have the PERFECT antique drawer knobs to stick smack dab in the center of those doors!! Here they are....
...And maybe, just maybe I will get around to finally hanging some of these...

I need a new shade for my beloved antique blue hobnail glass lamp... errr...work of art.... the current lime green one is getting shabby...

What else? Oh! I want to try and squeeze in, finally, the last steps in refinishing an antique record cabinet that one of my great aunts gave me....

But that's just SATURDAY! LOL... Sunday my boyfriend's best friend and his fiance are coming down from Long Island, New York to visit. They are staying in a time-share resort up in West Palm Beach and we'll be making the drive up there to spend the day with them.
Oh, and I'll leave you with some sneak peek images of the shelving we finally put up in the den/craft room last weekend, I'll save the room reveal pictures for when we finally finish getting it in order, whenever that will be! So you know, I created these little vignettes no sooner had the shelves gone up, be sure that it has already changed since I took the pictures and will remain in a constant state of change here on out. I like it that way! Things never get boring because I rotate my decor around....

I must do as much relaxing as possible tonight if I am to make it through this weekend!!!

Good Morning Friday!
Good Morning Friday!
Yes, I am up way too early. I fell asleep early and woke up around 4am... I've been up ever since watching Law and Order and the news. Speaking of news, LeBron James is coming to the Miami Heat, that's one of the last things I heard on the news before passing out around 10pm earlier. I half expected to hear fireworks and excessive horn honking erupt down in the streets here in downtown, but no... I'm sure everyone was too busy in the bars getting hammered and slurring Wade-James County baby!!
I'm beginning to think maybe I should take a nap before work, but that's always a mistake since the nap makes me enormously tired as opposed to just staying up. Hrmmm... We'll see! I'm in a really good mood though, yay! So that's why I wanted to start the day off with a hello and a I-hope-your-day-is-grrrrreat!
Darn, saying that makes me think of Tony the Tiger and now I sure wish I had some Frosted Flakes and cold milk!! The kitchen is pretty bare, in fact I've been procrastinating with the grocery shopping. Now my stomach is growling and it's getting light out, maybe I'll go up the block and get a sinfully greasy and delicious McDonald's breakfast with a large coffee and I'll just deal with my feelings of greasy guilt on the way to work, hehe. The thought is appealing....
PEACE ;)
