Happy Birthday Inspire Bohemia!

Happy 2nd Birthday to Inspire Bohemia!

Some call it a blogiversary a.k.a. blog anniversary, but I like to call it a birthday because on August 8, 2009 a vision was born!  That's right, my boyfriend encouraged me to start this blog as an outlet for all of my artistic interests and passions and I thought it would also be a wonderful way to inspire others to be creative and unique in their own lives.  I'm not a big believer in conforming or aligning ones style with what is proclaimed to be fashionable or "in style," rather I believe in listening to oneself.  Only you know what you like, society shouldn't tell anyone what to like/buy/etc.  It is with that premise that I formed this blog: Inspire Bohemia is aimed at inspiring you to discover more about your design style and your artistic and creative capabilities as well as encouraging you to have the confidence to define and build upon those ideas.  Too often I have heard people say they have no taste, no style, no talent...  Not true!  You aren't giving yourself enough credit.  Get inspired and get creative with your space, nothing is wrong as long as you love it.

The past two years have been incredible, so many new readers have joined Inspire Bohemia and I've gotten such wonderful comments, tips and feedback.  I am very very thankful to have such a wonderful audience for my many passions and interests - thank you all!  I hope I can continue to inspire you to live a unique and creative life articulated through art and driven by passion!  Cheers, here's to another wonderful year of blogging and many many more!

My Birthday Weekend

Good Day Universe!

It took me longer than expected (over a week!), but here is a brief little follow-up post to let you know how my birthday went on March 25th...

As you can see I ended up indulging in some cupcakes from Clarabelle's Cupcakes!  Pictured above are their Coconut, Oreo, Hummingbird, Lemon Basil, and Triple Fudge Brownie cupcakes!  Mmmmm mmm!  By far, the Hummingbird and Lemon Basil are some of the most spectacular cupcakes I've ever had, and they're dairy free!!  Too bad they didn't have their Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup cupcake or else there would have been a hell of a lot more chocolate cupcakes in this picture... hehe.

As planned, my mom, my great aunt, my sister and my boyfriend took me out for a delicious Thai dinner that night!  We ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll, Dragon Roll and Tom Kha Gai Soup for appetizers, then Massaman Curry Chicken, Chicken Pad Thai and Volcano Chicken for the main course.  Everyone shared so as to enjoy a little bit of everything and boy did we enjoy it... delicious!

As for the rest of the weekend, I spent it lounging by the pool and spending time with my love... oh, and guess what?  I totally blew off the Miami Design and Remodeling Show.  Wah-wah... I just didn't feel up for it.  Sorry folks!  Anyway, overall it was a pretty simple birthday, yet I couldn't have asked for more!

Stay tuned for a garden update post later, so many of my cacti and succulents are blooming!  The backyard is a veritable paradise and I can't wait to show you!

Oh, and I saw this graffiti face spray painted everywhere, I thought it was cool (albeit a bit morbid)...  It made me think of the posts that I did on graffiti art (Beatles, Istanbul and Mona Lisa) and makes me want to do another one with all the local graffiti art I've seen.  *Adds that to her list of things to do* :)

A Very Happy Birthday To Me

Hello world.... oh, and Happy Birthday to me!

Yes, it's true, March 25th is the day of my birth.  As you can see, I'm only three...  still a bit young and naive about the world, but hey - I'm gettin' there!  Haha...  Yes, today is my birthday and I'm another year older and wiser.  I've got the day off from work and right now I'm about to go for breakfast with the love.  Later I'll lay out by the pool and do some gardening - perhaps succulent planters.  And hey, I just might go get myself a cupcake from the delicious Clarabelle's Cupcakes (a post on that later)!  Anyway, most of the day remains to be seen, but one thing is for damn sure...

Tonight.... tun tun tun..... THAI!  That's right....  I eat it allllll the time, but believe it or not I can never get enough.  And so Thai is what I choose for my birthday dinner.  Now I must decide between the two contending restaurants.  Heh.

Okay, ciao!

Happy belated Birthday Jimi Hendrix!

*GASP*
I'm so ashamed that I forgot my main man's birthday!!
*Looks up to the sky... "I'm sorry Jimi!*

With all the craziness of Thanksgiving week I completely forgot.... Last Friday November 27, 2010 would have been Jimi Hendrix's 68th birthday!  Boy would I bet good money that if he were still alive today he'd be rockin' and jammin' out better than ever!

Shucks, that would be a great dream come true fantasy of mine, to see Jimi Hendrix live in concert!  To have been at the Monterrey Pop Festival in 1967 for his memorable performance.... or better yet, to have been woken up in the early morning hours by the screeching notes of his Star-Spangled Banner at Woodstock in 1969!  Whoa, that must have been insane!

All of Hendrix's music is awesome, but my favorite songs are Hey Joe, Dolly Dagger, Voodoo Chile, Machine Gun, Gypsy Eyes, Bold As Love, If 6 was 9....
"...Now, if 6 turned up to be 9,
I don't mind, I don't mind.
If all the hippies cut off their hair,
I don't care, I don't care.
Did, 'cos I got my own world to live through
And I ain't gonna copy you.

White-collar conservatives flashing down the street

Pointing their plastic finger at me.
They're hoping soon my kind will drop and die,
But I'm gonna wave my freak flag high . . . HIGH...."
(that last part is, in my opinion, some of his best lyrics)

....and of course, especially, Foxy Lady and Red House!!

What about you, what are your favorite Jimi Hendrix songs?

This world lost Jimi way too soon, but fortunately  his passion and talent enabled him to create an abundance of great music in his short life.  With his music, Hendrix carved out a home for himself in the world of rock and roll and the hearts of fans like moi FOREVER.  So even though he's no longer a physical part of our world, Jimi Hendrix's spirit lives on forever through his timeless music.

Happy belated Birthday Jimi, you were a hell of a guitar player and a hell of hippy Jimi, you are THE MAN.... well, you and John, Paul, George and Ringo... hehe.

Isn't this an awesome piece of art?  It's titled "Jimi Hendrix Explosion" and it's by Martin Sharp... I love it!

Maniac :)

Peace out!

And finally.... Merry Christmas from Jimi Hendrix himself, hehe....  I've never seen this picture of him before but it's cute!.............
