Artist Feature: Carin Vaughn

Abstract Succulents
16"x20" - acrylic on canvas
Hello everyone!  Having a good week so far?  I hope so!  I have another feature post for you today and something tells me you're going to absolutely LOVE this artist!

These magnificent works of art are original oil and acrylic paintings by
Carin Vaughn!  Carin is a self taught artist living in South Carolina and experimenting with different painting techniques, mediums and subjects so as to discover the extent of her talent - and it's quite obvious she has lots of it!  Not only is she an artist, Carin is also a traveler, surfer, longtime lover of succulents and above all, a loving mother.
I must say, her vivid and detailed paintings certainly reflect her love of nature!

I have selected my favorite paintings for this post, but in truth they're all gorgeous so please pass by Carin's
Etsy store and take a look at the rest of her artwork for sale!  Also, NBC has just purchased two of her paintings for the set of their show Parenthood, isn't that awesome - I can only imagine her excitement, congratulations Carin!  So stay tuned to the upcoming season of Parenthood to catch a glimpse of her paintings on set - I'm sure you'll know'em when you see'em because her style is quite unique but you can also check them out below (first two paintings below).  A big thank you to Carin for allowing me to use the images of her artwork for this post, I really can't say enough about them...  Oh, and need I mention how I'm madly in love with her succulent paintings?!  It should go without saying, but I couldn't help myself!  Have a wonderful afternoon! ;)

These two paintings were just bought by NBC for the set of their returning show Parenthood!  Stay tuned this fall to see them in action on set, making everything else shine brighter no doubt!  :)

Art Prints by Earmark on Etsy

Really quick post to show you these art prints that I saw on Apartment Therapy today from Etsy shop Earmark... I love them!  A while back I did a post on the original historic "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster, which you can check out here to read about its meaning and history, which is pretty interesting!  Anyway, it appears the shop Earmark has decided to use the style of the poster to create funny versions, for example "Freak Out and Throw Stuff" and "Keep Calm and Carry Guns" LOL!

Enjoy!

Or how about this print, which says "Create Happiness"... it's so sweet, I love the colors...

Tree for You by AnneSo

Check out this cuteness.... These are "pet tree plant necklaces" by Tree for You on Etsy! Each one contains a different teeny tiny cactus or succulent and is decorated with a charm. They look like little terrariums on a necklace, very sweet! The artist and creator of these little delights is AnneSo from Belgium and she donates a dollar from every sale to the charity Arbor Day, which aides with reforestation and rain forest rescue. Check out Anne's store Tree for You to see her entire collection and perhaps pick one out for yourself, unique art for a great cause. Thanks Anne!

Check out AnneSo's store Tree for You on Etsy or her Tree for You blog! :)

And this last image is a snake skin purse from Under Capricorn's blog, it's from a recent post about items found on a Saturday vintage fashion hunt... It's not listed for sale in the store, but maybe it will be soon and it's just so pretty I couldn't resist.... (also, I absolutely love the chair used for the staging of the photograph)... great find!

Hellllllloooo hello! Today is a wonderful day because today is Friday! Thank the universe! I'm in a really good mood, and I just wanted to post a hello, and some inspiration for your day...

AND, I'm sure many of you are familiar with this poster, it's making a comeback... But does anybody even really know the history behind it? I didn't, so here it is....

For "Keep Calm and Carry On" merchandise, check out:
http://www.keepcalmandcarryon.com/

Here is a tidbit of history on the poster....

"During the early spring of 1939 and the war with Germany almost inevitable, the British Government's Ministry of Information commissioned a number of propaganda posters to be displayed throughout the country upon the outbreak of war. The plan for the posters was to relay a message from King George VI to his people that all capable measures to defend the Country were being taken.

Using the crown of King George VI as the only graphic element it simply read 'Keep Calm and Carry On.' Although some of the posters did make it on to walls (one of which can be seen below), the poster was never officially issued and so remained almost unseen by the general public. That is until a copy turned up over 50 years later within a pile of dusty old books bought from an auction.

Sadly I have not been able to find any record of who originally came up with the slogan. However, the reproduction is a tribute to that unknown person who created it. People across the world are still finding reassurance in its wonderful and handsome design with the very special attitude of mind that it managed to convey."
