A Merry Rebel Christmas

(A Christmas tree alternative by Dutch artist Jane Schouten)

What's that folks? You said you're tired of the same'ol-same'ol traditional Christmas decor? Well, in the name of being unique, here are some awesome ideas for injecting a little creativity and individuality into your holiday decorating... Here are some out of the ordinary Christmas trees, wreaths, ornaments and more...

This amazing Christmas tree alternative (above), made of precisely organized knick-knacks on a wall is by Dutch artist Jane Schouten of All the Luck in the World. This is by far my absolute favorite of all the ideas in this post. Apparently Jane put together this piece of art from hundreds of little treasures that she collected over time... Hmmm, sounds like someone I know! ME! And I totally have enough tiny treasures to pull it off.......... Hmmm, I just might do a smaller version in my new apartment!

Here is another unique take on a Christmas tree by Living Etc., which suggests using your ornaments and other decor to create a 2-D tree on your wall. Very nice!

Let me count the things that I love about the scenario in this image! First off, in the past I've seen many images portraying the use of a branch hung over a table in lieu of a chandelier. I love the idea, especially when the branch is adorned with lighting, or in this case, Christmas ornaments! Also, I really love the assortment of different chairs all painted turquoise! Painting all the chairs the same color serves to unify them and distinguish their collective purpose.

This here is a hand-painted tree ornament made from a recycled light bulb! I love the idea and I love the owl... This is also another example of how light bulbs are transcending their original purpose through art - as highlighted in my previous post Light Bulbs Live On!
You can buy this ornament and many others at The Enchanted Owl.

This interpretation of a Christmas tree is from an Apartment Therapy reader named Michael Miles. Apparently, this unique version of a x-mas tree only takes "5 drums, 1 tambourine, 1 strand of ceramic lights, and 1 bucket of shiny balls!" :)

These simple and organic Christmas tree ornaments are a creation from Land-Rich. The beauty of their simplicity is not difficult to achieve, in fact all you need to do is go buy a few empty glass ornaments at the craft store and fill them with plants and branches from your yard. Be creative... if customized, these make nice gifts as well!

This is such a simple yet beautiful idea, a way to incorporate family photos into holiday decor by arranging them on a wall in the shape of a wreath.
